Bt Requirements 2021

The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has issued a new guideline for requirements in the application for revalidation of the Certificate of Fitness (CoP) of Filipino seafarers. With regard to this implementation, the requirements of the COP revalidation application for basic training (BT), lifeboats and lifeboats (SCRB), rapid rescue boats (FRBs) and advanced firefighting (AFF) are listed below: As adopted above, these are the following new requirements for the COP: Guidelines for the implementation of the amendments to Circulars stCW 2018-08 and 2018-09 on revised rules and mandatory minimum requirements for the assessment of seafarers` competence under the relevant provisions of Chapters II, II and IV of the 1978 STCW Convention, as amended. Instead of shore-based training, MARINA attaches great importance to on-board training, which is carried out by the applicant seafarers. It aims to promote the skills of the country`s maritime professionals, as the global shortage of officers was estimated at 92,000 in 2020 and 147,500 five years later. Lifting the implementation of the practical assessment of seafarers in the midst of the Covid-19 threat “We are focused on accelerating the development of a nationally integrated and globally competitive maritime industry through education, innovation, technology and sustainability,” Marina said. As I walk around on social media, everyone is celebrating this new development. This is such positive news for us. It`s nice not to have to spend time in training centers. This time can be spent with our family instead.

This is a great relief for all my Filipino friends because it really makes a difference. This saves us time, money and effort by outsourcing this recycling requirement. “Skilled and reliable seafarers will increase the competitiveness of the Philippine maritime industry while increasing the contribution of the maritime sector to the country`s gross domestic product (GDP),” he added. Although training centers suffer a great loss for this, there may not be a requirement that corresponds in the same way as refresher courses. We appreciate MARINA`s efforts to put an end to this long misery. Instead of refresher training to maintain a standard level of competence, seafarers may submit their training and experience on board in accordance with tables A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/2-1, A-VI/2-2 and A-VI/3. Suspension of the six-month rule in accordance with Articles 7 and 9 of STCW Circular 2018-14 These qualified seafarers must submit such documents to Marina every five years to demonstrate that they have maintained the required level of competence based on the Manila amendments to the 2010 STCW Convention. 1.

Seafarers qualified in accordance with sections A-VI/1, A-V1/2 and A VI/3 shall demonstrate every five (5) years that they have maintained the required level of competence.
