Legal and General Investment Management Us

Legal & General Investment Management is one of Europe`s largest asset managers, providing investment solutions to a wide range of clients worldwide. By collaborating with local clients and leveraging intellectual capital for sustainable investments we have developed globally, we believe we can deliver significant long-term value to our clients across all segments. We do this by focusing on three pillars: stewardship, integration and solutions. In stewardship, we have established a global leadership position through our active ownership approach, leveraging a consistent global engagement process and proxy voting policy to focus on long-term, sustainable results and best practices. We continue to proactively integrate sustainable investment factors into our investment decision-making and risk management processes. Finally, we work closely with our customers to jointly develop solutions tailored to their individual needs and preferences. While many corporate plans face similar challenges, our experience shows that each individual has unique perspectives, needs, and goals. We work with our clients to help them imagine and track the desired “final phases” in pensions. Over the past decade, we`ve seen clients embark on the path of reducing coverage ratio risk by adopting long-term credit benchmarks, implementing customized liability-driven programs, and using sophisticated risk management overlays to achieve their end goals.

In some cases, this endgame has required building an active, long-term, low-income portfolio with cash flows designed to closely track planned benefit payments from the plan in the future. These solutions are particularly attractive for plans aiming for long-term self-sufficiency or even with the ultimate goal of transferring pension risk. To complement our solutions offering, in 2017 we launched our private credit capabilities, which can provide increased returns and diversification for solutions that do not require liquidity in public credit markets. Most public and multi-employer plans are looking for innovative ways to close funding gaps, reduce costs and increasingly leverage their assets to make a positive difference in society and long-term investment outcomes. We work with our clients to select cost-effective indexing strategies that we believe best meet the needs of their plan. In addition, some clients are looking to replace active equity managers or supplement exposure to market capitalization-weighted indices with diversified factor index strategies. These strategies are a cost-effective alternative that we believe can improve the overall risk-return profile of many plans. We are also working with our clients to innovate in more liability-conscious fixed income portfolios, which we believe will better manage short-term cash requirements while improving the efficiency of their return-oriented assets. Often, these solutions include multi-asset overlays that help clients maintain desired policy allocations, hedge tail risks, and add value through tactical asset allocation decisions. We are committed to leadership, transparency and consistency in sustainable investments, a commitment that is reflected across the global organization.
